Frankfort here I come.

Motor was finished this morning and the boat should be back in the water by Monday. Then the wife and daughter and I are driving by water up and around Mackinaw to Frankfort. I have never made this trip before so it should be fun. It will be nice to get out of Lakertown for a while. Port Austin was good to us this year but still to many grease balls.

We did the Straits of Mackinac trip in 2001 and really enjoyed the views, have a great time.

if you can make it and you will be almost there on huron check out the Manitoulin Island, which separates the North Channel and Georgian Bay from Lake Huron's main body Man is that a site to see

DO NOT get tempted to pass on the south side of the abandoned light house. There is a wicked shoal that runs to the SE of that. You will rip your running gear off. The charts show deeper water than what is really there. Once you get pointed south, stay in the main shipping channel until you get well south of Waugoshance point. Lots of really nasty shoals out there.

Thanks Paul for that advise. I just looked at the charts and that area looks crazy. We will be heading up to the boat tonight and leaving first thing in the morning. I will have the laptop and have internet access through my phone so I will try and give updates as we go.
