hey derek, what kind of electronics to do you have on your boat? Do you have Garmin's Fishing Hot Spots or anything similar. Wondering what strategy you try to use for new water?

No personal experience on Lakeville Lk., but I just got the Navionics HotMaps Inland Lakes cartridge for Michigan and it does include Lakeville (along with about 150 others). I've used it on Union Lake and it is very accurate for depths and structure...and it has areas already identified as habitat for specific types of fish. I'm using it in a Raymarine 425, but I believe it will also work in most Lowrance plotters and some Furuno. Check it out at www.navionics.com

The Navionics HotMaps also covers Wolverine Lk., Lake St. Clair and a bunch of others.

i just have a junky depth finder that i rarely use. i only use my depth finder on lake st clair when in 10 feet or deeper, and the st. clair river. when fishing new water, i start shallow, and work deeper if i have to. i usually always fish black 7" berkley power bait worm. i deadstick it often. i'll set my trolling motor on low speed, and cast ahead of the boat, reeling up the slack line. i usually don't even hop the lure, just set the hook, or reel it in. i prefer this method fishing, not always the most effective, but i have confidence doing this. if black worm doesn't work, a white hulagrub usually works. on st. clair, i always am throwing spooks or sammy's, you don't catch as many fish, but you cover water, and you get larger bites on those type lures.

Mom Nitro is a very nice lady. She told me a few stories (only the good ones) and obviously very proud of her son. When do I get an offer to go bass fishing?
