Hey FLATRATE - noticed you said you fished the GLPAA tournaments? Was wondering how it was? I noticed that there weren't a ton of competitors atleast according to the results on the website. I heard Lake Huron wasn't really producing?

GLPAA is a great tournament format , you need to finish in the top 5 , either pro or amt. in one of the qualifiers around the state to qualifiy for the Show Down in Rogers City . Last year the qualifiers were in Harbor Beach , Ludington , Oscoda , and Alpena with the Show Down in Rogers City. Pay outs at the qualifiers and larger pay out at Show Down , this was only second year for GLPAA and I think with some more intrest from other fishermen that this could become one of the premier salmon tournament series around the great lakes. Last year I fished on the Purple Taco team in the pro-division and the competition was pretty tough , fished against Craig and Larry from Offshore , Team Rawhide , Real Deal , Rip Tide , Fish Whore , Verdict , Trippin Dipsey's ,Fish patrol , Blind Date , and a lot of othe tough fishermen. At the qualifiers you weigh your best 6 fish each day , 2 days fishing , 3 lake trout max. , no trout in the Show Down so the guys had to get silver fish which was hard this year on Lake Huron but the good fishemen were able to do it. I would encourage everyone to check out the GLPAA for next year and give it a try. There were t.v. crews at the Show Down this year and on some of the boats and it is supposed to be on OLN 5 times this winter.

Cool trying to plan a tournament schedule for next year and I've checked out the GLPAA magazine that was around. Obviously the Ludington T fits well with that being my home harbor some of the Huron tournaments might get a tad pricey to get the boat over there but you never know - I used to fish out of Southern Lake Huron Lexington and Sanilac but had to get over to the bigger fish so we've been in Ludington for a couple years. Used to run into some of the boats you listed fishing Blue Water Classic and some other Ts out of Harbor Beach etc...

If any of your members what to participate in a classy tourney, the GLPAA has it all!!! It was a marvelous series this past season AND the winnings at the end of the year tourney keep getting bigger and bigger the more teams that enter. Brian and crew do a wonderful job and really try to get the community involved with give-aways to kids and prizes and alot of energy goes into each event. They are trying real hard to get salmon fishermen the same recognition that alot of the other fish species get on TV and in the papers. I would highly recommend this series to anyone that is remotely thinking about great lakes salmon tournament fishing.......check out their website. As a sponsor of the series, I am very pleased with their effort and their professionalism. Best, Chip Greene, Ridgeback Rattler Downrigger Weights

I thought that the GLPAA was extremely well run and enjoyable to fish! I hope to see it succeed. I really like the qualifier for the championship format that they use. Brian and crew are really on to something here if they can keep it rolling until it gains momentum.
