What's the deal on the new clickers for the Tekota's, Greg? Where do the reels have to be sent? Have they upgraded the new ones to the improved clicker? I really liked them except for that problem.

They have to go to Cali I think.

There is a authorized service center in Michigan - ACO in Chesterfield - but I have in the back of my mind some folks having problems with them but I could be wrong (usually).

I saw an item in the new GLA magazine that said that Shimano would have techs performing updates on Tekota reels at the Chicagoland and Grand Rapids' Fishing Shows.

The article said that the techs would be at other shows too...call Shimano at 877.577.0600 for details. Maybe they'll be at the Novi show in 2 weeks? Didn't say anything about calling for "reservations" or anything like that...sounds like they will do them right at the show.

i have had good sucess sending the reels into shimano in california. there was no charge for two of them and a minimal charge for the third... nice considering the 3rd one was a "bag o ' reel".
i'll be taking my tekota to the chicagoland show to have the clicker issue addressed and will post the results,
ken.

hey blu -when is the chicago show? Deotrit show is in two weeks - so if we get it done first we'll post results as well.

Anyone know if there are potential problem on the Tekota 650LC - I haven't had any problems yet but if there are problems I'll take those in with the 700s.

talked to shimano today - first let me say what a great response - for all those holding out for the shows to get them fixed - they Shimano rep said they'll only be fixing one per customer at the shows - so my reels are going in to

700s are going in for clicker upgrade and the 600LCs are going in for upgraded drags. I'll let y'all know how my experience goes from there.

your local dealer should be able to do it for you. I use the local shop and they hooked me up. I walked in with 2 in hand and the rep just happened to be there. I started to tell them what was up and he finished my sentence. I had new side plates with clickers it a couple minutes. Having a good relationship with the local guy is nice. All the charter guys in the area got serviced first and I was part of that group, even though i am not a charter. I would think the shows they will set you up. Maybe call ahead of time. My reels never left my sight. that was nice.

How do I know if my new Tekota's (600LC's and 800) need any updates or not? I am going to the GR show and don't wanna take them along if they are already updated

I beleive you need to call Shimano in CA and ask them about your reels based on their serial numbers which I beleive are indicated on the boxes. I don't have my boxes any more to verify this beleif. But the Shimano tech support guys are really good and helpful - atleast the ones I talked to.
