Anybody have any opinions on Cabela's Depth Master II
Linecounter Rod & Reel Combos? Looking for a rod and reel to occasionaly run some planer boards and these are in the price range I would be comfortable with. But I also don't want to kick my self for not spending a little more if that's what it takes to get a good dependable setup. Thanks for your time on this topic.

Ductape,
I personally have not run them although I believe they are manufactured for Cabelas by Okuma. I'm pretty sure that the Depthmaster II is the same as the Magna DX. I've heard that there were some drag issues with the older models but haven't heard anything about the newer ones. I run the Convectors which are the same as the Depthmaster Gold and haven't had any problems. I know this really didn't answer your question but I hope it helps a little.

I had a couple of Depthmast I's and there were a definate 'got what I paid for' only last part of one season and the drags were gone. Not sure if Okuma made the 'I's or not. I have almost all Okuma stuff now and have been happy. If the 'II's are an Okuma look carefully at the diffrence between the two.
