My guess it if you take the ring off you will change the hydrodynamics around the prop and probably loose performance. If it wasn't needed, why would it be there anyway?

I would be looking into a new prop.

thats a scavaging ring it helps evacuate exhaust at higher speeds i be willing to bet that got broke using the wrong tool to remove or install the lock clip on the prop nut or some thing ran into it . It will have minimal performance effect only at wide open throttle

Well i can tell ya that no one changed the prop so they must have ran into it while putting boats in for the winter. I would like to find another marina to keep my boat, but this one is just so damn convenient. it's 2 miles form the house and only a 5 minute ride to the pierheads. the price aint all that bad either.

I think I would get in touch with whoever is in charge at the marina and drag him/her over to your boat.
Ask them what they are going to do to make it right!
It is very unlikely but hopefully they didn't bend the shaft also. You pay them to take care of your boat not mess it up.

Well I went down there on Thursday and talked to them and they told me that it is allready being taken care of.
They told me that they are going to take the prop off and have it rebuilt and that it will be ready to go in the water in about 2 weeks or less.
I just hope that they don't mess something else up in the meantime.

Larry,

Keep accurate records of who you talked to, when, what was promised, etc....

Names, times, phone numbers, etc.

That just flat out sucks, but hopefully they fix it right for you.

Well at least they have owned up to being the cause of the damage and are doing something about it.
I hope they do right by you, it sounds like they just might.

Geez bud, that really sucks!! Like Clark said, keep track of all conversations, phone calls, who, what, where, etc... Remember, as the marina becomes busier, your issue may be put on the back burner. Keep on it.
