Welcome to the boards Magnum. While I don't have experience yet on installing radar, I will in the very near future as I just bought one myself. I'll be sure to post any info I have when I do install it.

Be sure to read the instructions before mounting and drilling and then re-read them. They should have supplied a template for the dome install.
Make sure you have the tools to do the complete job. I needed a shorter than normal stubby phillips to attach the dome once I had the base mounted.
Before mounting the cover dome, power up the radar and let the scanner rotate to be sure your not coming into contact with any power wires or anything else that might interfer with it. Other than that, radar installs are pretty simple. Good Luck

I've got to agree with greg on this one. Read the instructions, get on the boat and visualize going through the entire setup step by step. Gather your tools and follow the instruction manual while doing the install. I installed mine a couple of years ago and it was a relatively simple process.
Good Luck!
You'll love it....

I would add that the install is pretty easy , make sure the dome is high enough to clear all other ant.'s and lights and level with the horizon when the boat is on plane. Next I would recommend using it a lot under good conditions and getting used to what you are seeing on the screen and whats out in front of you and comparing them. I found that with mine that if I invert the screen color { dark background with light echos} and minmize the screen to 1/8 or 1/4 mile you will understand more of the screen and reduce glare when it is foggy and dark. I don't know how I did with out one before after having mine for a few years.

Greg,

Just wanted to say Awesome boat. I've been a Grady Fan for years, I keep talking myself out of buying one (young kids, job change ect) but each time I get a little closer to pulling the trigger on picking one up.

What make, year, power ect is yours. If you don't mind me asking how do you like her and would you change anything?

Tim

Thanks Tim, the boats a 2004 270 Islander with twin F-150 Yami 4-strokes. By the time I got her rigged, ready and broken in, the season was dang near over with. Managed to get about 50 hours on her though. This year will be different, GUARANTEED!! Been dropping hints all winter long at work

I went back and forth between the twin 150's or 200's (both in 4 strokes) I wanted a boat that had a liitle speed to her because I plan on doing more offshore fishing this year. The difference in top end between the 150's and the 200's is only about 5 mph according to the test reports and the reviews the F-150 got seemed like a no brainer. The boats got a great hole shot and I top out at 46 mph.

I know what you mean by delaying on the commitment. I put 2 kids through college (2nd graduated last Spring) and my 3rd is attending CMU now. I also put off on a boat but it gave me time to look at a bunch so by the time I was ready to order one, I had a real good idea on what I wanted.

Not sure if I would change anything yet. Still getting used to it. Maybe a little more room in between the 2 helm seats and a little more room in the electronics box on the helm station. That way you could take advantage of the bigger displays on electronics. I don't have anything mounted on top of the dash. Didn't want to get it all cluttered up.

That's about it....thanks again

Greg

Greg,

Thanks for all the info I printed it and put it in the "boat" file.

I'd tell you to enjoy her this summer but that would be stating the obvious .

Take Care

Tim
