We started fishing yesterday at the McDonalds structure and made a pass along the E edge of the ditch where we had done well last week. After about 45 minutes and no walleye in the box, we picked up our gear and headed east to deeper water and W.Sister Island where we finished our season last year with some really good catches.

We fished primarily off the NE corner yesterday and pulled our 3 man Ohio limits between 15:30 & 18:00. The metallic spoons produced best for us: Tapeless Blue Dolphin, Green Slick, Green Huckleberry (gold back), and Watermelon AntiFreeze. The brightly painted stuff wasn't working well for us. The 'eyes we caught were from all in the 19"-24" range.

We also caught a boatload of monster sheepies. Probably 2:1, sheepies:walleye. They were just snapping up the spoons and rippin' drag off the reels. Almost reminded me of salmon fishing. It would have been frustrating to waste so much time clearing them had they not been such a good fight. The good thing was we caught very few silver bass.

Speed varied from 1.9 to 2.3 with most of our walleye taken at 2.1. Our best lead was 90 feet off the towlines. We were fishing mostly 30-31 FOW.

The lake was calm, the sun was shining, and it was a great day to be on the water with Cantgetenough & Ernie (The Big E). Trapperz did a great job cooking up 2 of our fish which was MORE than enough for the 3 of us.

Thats Steve on the left and Ernie on the Right.

Good baits for us yesterday, from the top CCW: Tapeless Blue Dolphin, Pirate?, a couple Green Slicks, Green Huckleberry, and the back of the Watermelon Antifreeze. Some days they REALLY like that AF finish.

Not to mention the cute girls at Trapperz just couldn't quit fawning over Ernie. I don't think he'll ever give up dating the twins but he might add the Trapperz girls to his harem stable. Atta boy Ernie! It was a picture perfect day Mike!

LITTLE DANDY AT THE HELM OF HIS FINE CRAFT!

I've never caught that many sheep in a season much less one day! We also missed at least 5 nice walleye including what looked like a six pounder(Definitely the biggest one that day) at the net. Ernie forgot to extend the handle! Oh well. It didn't matter, we got 'em.

After talking with LD last night and reading a few other reports we made the run this morning out to the same general area. Maybe a little to the west, and did pretty good. The early morning bit we increadible, we had 18 fish in the first 45 mins or so, and ended the day with our 36 around 10:00. Started around 6:30. A great day for sure.

Maybe a dozen or so sheepies. They got going after 9 or so and kept us budy as we filled out our ticket.

Also, remeber that I had 6 guys, so 12 rods, then the 18 in 45 mins doesnt sound as impressive. We were bringing in the mini discs almost as fast as we let them out and all 4 jets cleared at once and we were dragging fish on the dipsy's as well. It was a really good bite for sure.

Thanks for the call last night.

I will throw some pics up tonight.

the first 45 minutes we crazy this morning...we had a rookie onboard who constantly reeled in fish...good thing we had 2 nets becasue i dont think i left the motor well more than 3 times in the period of time...net on get the other net ready to net another....great time!

nice fish also...most fish in perfect 22-24 inch range....only 2 fish under 20 inched today!

best spoons were darker purple/black schemes...most copper backed...the darker patterns outshined the brighter patterns for us today....

tried some new silver streaks today and a purple/green combo(not sure on name sorry) outshined the spoons on the one side! used some DW spoons today as well and they all put fish in box...dont think it mattered much....

best part of the day was that we were SE of the pack of boats all by ourselves....we told one buddy our rough coords over the radio today when we had 30 in the box about 9-ish and had a sportcraft fly in 5 minutes later and settle down a couple hundred yards behind us... when we were leaving they were pulling fish....anotehr great trip!!!

Saturday I took some Atlanta folks out for a walleye trip. We started west and south of the gravel bed and trolled east. Slow pickens but just enough action to keep the guests happy. There is a new bouy on the gravel bed that I never saw before. Does anyone know more about it? It seemed to hold fish just on the SW side of it. The lake flattened out around noon and it got pretty warm out. We ended with 18 walleye. Spoons out 35' to 40' behind jet 40's in about 24' of water.

Friday evening we did a musky trip in Lake St. Clair. Caught a small musky, a 18 pound musky and 8 pound northern. Had about 4 hit and misses.

Sunday had breakfast with dad and sunday night a fish fry with the Atlanta folks.

Attached is Josh's 18 pound musky.
