Due to medical issues, weather, and work went out for the first time on Monday(7/7). Came out of the raisen river and headed toward stony point. dropped BB in 24ft and trolled in same direction. 2 hours picked up 1 (18"), in 28ft, turned toward toledo and headed south. trolled for another 2 hours picked up 1 (22") and lost a nice one at the boat (wife), several sheep head and white base along the way. then the steering failed, jamed in a turn position. tried severial different options but could not get the boat to change directions and the sky was getting dark in the west. Ended up using the kicker motor to push us back into the raisen river (28' Marinette, fisherman)avg 5mph. Good points! got to get out on the water, caught 2 fish, storm did not hit us, just a little sprinkels along the way, did not run out of gas for the kicker motor, made it back to the dock. Down side, cut 3 day trip short, can't just replace the steering cable, have to replace helm also $$, up side, season is not lost just another delay. will be back out in a couple of weeks, back to work. I will post more reports when I have them. These reports are very helpful and I thank all that post. Thanks to the host, with out you this site would not be here!

Glad that you made it back safely. My wife used to complain that I was always a perfectionist for the boat & stuff, till we got caught in a big blow on Saginaw Bay. She doesn't complain anymore. Goes to show that you always need to be prepared.
