I am really green when it comes to catching lakers. Would someone please post some pics of a typical cowbell and spin-n-glo setup? Also, when people talk about bouncing bottom are they doing this with their riggers?

Thanks,
Ryan

Ryan, I have had great luck with cow bells for lakers. I use the 3/3/3 rule.
Attatch the release 3' above the ball, cow bells 3' behind the release and I use U20 size flat fish 3' behind the bells.
This set up has been DEADLY for me when bouncing bottom for lakers.
I have big jon riggers (flexable arms) I drop the ball down till I touch bottom, bring the ball up off the bottom a few inches then work the rigger arm by pushing down on it, bouncing the ball on bottom.
A lot of work but super productive.

Brian

On Lake Huron this is my best laker setup. A Uncle Roys Pearl and Black/Green Tape with a Metallic Green and Orange Spin-n-glo

I dont like to run my riggers bouncing bottom so I just run them 5 feet from bottom. I also run two wire bouncing rigs that DO bounce bottom. I use my standard wire diver rods and attach a three way swivel. Off the bottom swivel I run a 16 inch 20 lb test mono leader to a 16-24 oz lead ball and off the back swivel I run a 6 foot leader to the trolling rudder at the front of the cowbell. I slowly let these rigs out until I hit bottom then I wait a little bit and let out more until I hit bottom again. Then I just watch the rod it should hit bottom about once 15 seconds. VERY IMPORTANT you want your dropper line to be a lighter pound test than your main line. You will lose weights in the bottom if you are fishing around any rocks. Which we fish up in the thumb. These rigs are very effictive and on good days up here you can catch 20 to 30 lakers in a morning.
