Made our second Sturgeon trip out this year. We got skunked earlier in the year and swamped by bugs.....
This trip would be different with a bit more catching action. We set lines at about 8pm. Right away we had a nibble and a swift pull, but no one home.

About 15 minutes later the out rod started popping. Sara grabbed a hold of it. The fish made a run up stream, and then back at us. Sara could not keep up and the line slacked. The fish Jumped about 15 ft from us, and the splash actually got both Mike and Sara. But the line was slacked and fish-off. This fish was well over 60".

Got all lines back in the water, just sat down, and a corner rod starts screamin'. Sara grabbed the rod and was ready for battle. As they got the fish to the back of the boat, there was no weight.... They eased the fish to the net, and the snapped had been undone, or maybe it was never done. Sara's first Sturgeon landed, it went 55.5", and was quickly released.

Rest the lines, and just sat down again, and bam-o the out rod starts popping again. Sara had to battle this one for sure. It made a jump right at the back of the boat and almost KO'ed itself on the swim platform. Then it went to the bottom. She battled for about 8 minutes not getting the fish off the bottom. RP2 Muskie rod bent right over and it would not move. Finally it came unanchored from the bottom and she was able to pull it into netting range. Sara's second Sturgeon, it went 54", and was safely released.

Two Master Angler Sturgeon landed in about one hour and 20 minutes. Aerial shows at the initial hook-ups were awesome.

awesome dude - now I'm really jealous the musky wasn't wenough but now sturgeon! Man that looks awesome.

When we were in Pt. Huron and Lexington for a few years, we'd hear on occasion we'd see or hear of a sturgeon being caught in the St. Clair/Black River junction.

Keep after them!
