Dad and I fished Olcott Sunday. We started inshore and had a little company early, but the rest of the pack blasted offshore and left us all alone for the morning. We had good temp and good picture, so we decided to stick it out inside and fished 45-80 fow all day in front of the Red Barn. It was just the 2 of us so we fished 4 rods. We had 42-44 deg with 45 feet of cable out.

We ended up 7/10, all quality matures. As the fish were all starting to color up and we figured we weren't going to get too many more for the smoker this year, we fished for the box, ended up with six kings in the box at 18, 21, 24.5, 27, 28 and 30 lbs.

All fish came on Spin Doctor/flies. The Mountain Dew/crush glow SD with green crinkle howie off the 45 foot rigger (probe rigger, by the way) on an 8' lead went 6 times, 200' copper with a blue hologram SD and powder blue ATOMMIK went twice and the big one came on a chart blade/mountain dew SD and seaweed horsefly on the wire diver 150 back on a 3.

We had lots of bait with hooks all day inside and the fish were real aggressive. When we marked a fish, a rod would fire moments later. We watched one fish come into the spread, look around and swim away, and then 15 seconds later, the 200' copper rod fired, we figured it was the fish we watched swim away on the graph.

Easily our best day on matures in several years.

here's dad with the 30 lber (his first)

here's the catch laid out

Tim,

Some nice fish there. Sounds like you and dad had a wonderfull day together. How long did it take to get that slob in?

By the way, is that your new back yard the pictures were taken in? Looks great if it is.

Richard

Richard, that one took almost 20 minutes, It hit the wire diver and the counter was will into the 600's before it even started slowing down.

Nope, that's my sister's yard. I don't have much of a back yard. i do have a 170' deep front yard though.

It looks like Adam and I are gonna fish the challenge, so I'll see you in a couple of weeks.
