good news is you have lots of really great choices. bad news is you have lots of really good choices.

Help us narrow it down for you by answering a couple of questions.

1) What length of core? if multiples, please list

2) budget? Is money no object, or do you have some parameters to work within?

those two details will help all of us narrow done the decisions.

I have never used Lead Core before, but I am thinking that 10 colors for trolling this spring with planner boards. As far as money I am looking for a Good Reel at a decent price.
Also can you use lead core line on your downriggers?

A decent reel for 10 colors is an Okuma cv55L and you dont have to sell your boat to get a couple. It is a common practice to fish 2 colors of lead off a rigger or 2 commonly refered to as an swr.Very effective with spoons. You would take your regular rigger reel and take off enuff line to add 2 colors of lead and a leader I start witha 25' leader.Let the line out till you have 10 feet past where the core and the backing meet and clip into your release. This will get you 8-10 feet below the ball, important to remember this if your scraping bottom.

For full cores you can also look at:

Penn 340 GTI - although the line retreive rate is pretty slow for these reels but they are tough and fine reels.

Shimano Tekato 700 - fine reel for full cores - on the pricey side however.

And what Coz said about core on riggers.

We have several shimano speedmaster reels on our boat. They are not level wind, however you just have to thumb the line over every once in a while and they work awesome. Very easy to do.The big plus is a 6.2 - 1 retrive, very very fast and they are about 100 bucks so a good price and they are Shimanos so they are quality. If your running 8 plus colors of core you can clear rods so fast with these things.

I second coz on the cv55L if you don't want to break the bank. I have a pair and I am very happy with them so far.
