Need some help here - we are thinking of heading up to Kenosha for some Coho's in May. We wanted to do it Memorial day weekend, but it looks like that wont happen due to my kids b-day. So the next weekend is now our best option. Is this still ok? In past years has this been abit late? What about Racine?

Any comments would be great.

Should be good JD....Racine is a hop, skip, and a jump from Kenosha by water...

Annual "June slowdown" typically doesn't happen until later in the month, just in time for the Uecker tournament.

You can get transient slips at Simmons Island Marina, and I would recommend doing so, as that public ramp gets REALLY busy on weekends.

A lot depends on water temps...but that time of year is usually really good over there for the cohos. Check out Chinookeith's site www.4kflies.com for coho flies (aka peanut flies) to run behind OO orange dodgers or Alderton flashers.

Bird Dog keeps his boat at Simmons, and that is where I call home at least two times per summer for fishing...

Good group of folks over there...and the night-time dock life tends to get interesting when Team Heavy sets up the chairs...

LOL

BTW...bring an UL spinning outfit with ice fishing jigs...that marina is known for it's crappie in the spring..
