Picked up a SubTroll at the GR Sport Fishing show. I was in the boat yesterday trying to decide where to mount it. Anyone have any practical advice to pass along on mounting tips?

Also thoes of you who have them are you running the coated cable that is included?

thanks!

Mckenneyp,
Though Sub Troll says the unit will work with uncoated cable down to 100 ft., I would say that it works that way sometimes and sometimes it will not. Use the cable and fix the probe to the terminal end per their instructions. You won't regret it. Also use a cable tie to fix the antenna (only the coated part) to your downrigger boom, vibration over time will eventually wear through the wire if you don't attach it fairly tightly to the boom.
Hope this helps.
Good luck.
Mike.

I have a Fish Hawk and I also have Walker Duo-Temp sensor riggers. I have my Fish Hawk mounted up front so I can monitor temp and speed from the helm but I have the Duo-Temp display at the back so who ever is on the riggers can monitor the down temp. as they move riggers up or down.

Depth Raider user here. If possible, mount the display where it can be seen from the helm & the back of the boat. For my boat, I mounted it up in the electronics box on one of those mini-RAM units and a small piece of StarBoard. As mentioned above, use the coated cable.

I have a smaller boat with a manually controlled throttle on my kicker. For that reason I have flush mounted it in the rear of my boat so I can see the readout when adjusting the speed and setting riggers. I cut a hole in the side panel below the gunnel with a roto-zip. Do use the coated cable also.
