Was wondering which launch would be better to use sterling or bolles. I have both a state park sticker and a luanch permit. This is the first time on Erie in 20 years and not sure which to use. I was wondering what is the shortest and easiest to get out to the lake. I have a 23 foot bayliner that need at least 4 foot of water. Also where is the best place to head to when i go out so i have a little heads up on where to start. I will be trolling with plugs and spoons.

Right now the best fishing is in Ohio water almost due N. of West Sister Island. About 1 - 2 miles. Look around, the main school will move east a little or North a little or west a little, e.t.c. It's a long run and Bolles or Sterling is about the same distance. about 15 - 17 miles but the fishing is worth it. Better than just a couple here, there. Anywhere from 70 - 90 ft. back. Depending on how deep you're marking them. We've been running one side 70 and the other 90 and both are doing well. If one side runs better on a particular day, change the other. Good luck!

Steve

Note: Be careful at all of the launches. They all have shallow water nearby. Bolles, Sterling, Erie Metropark e.t.c. Stay in the channels.

I would go to Bolles. Deeper water and less congested than Sterling. There is a shallow channel to navigate at Sterling that continually gets silted in every year.

At Bolles, just be sure to stay between the markers to at least a 1/2 mile out from the channel entrance.

Good luck!

Bolles would be best. Save time and have all your group buy your Ohio licenses online. No need to wait at the store and miss fishing time.

Thanks for the information.

I don't know if i am going to be able to get out or not now. I made it to my parents in milford (pontiac area) and now have my right rear hub pulled apart. We stopped at a rest area and i smelled brakes burning, so we limped it to my parents and pulled it apart at ten at night. the lining came off the shoe and was wedged between the drum and the shoe. So i have to make a trip to a trailer place (richfiled in flint) in the morning to try and buy parts to get back on the road again. Man what crap luck. this is twice that i tried to get to lake erie now this summer. Hopefully i can get it together and get out sunday morning.

Note to BFG. They dredged Sterling last year and it is at least 5 - 6 t. deep. Bolles is a litte deeper
