I was wondering if anyone has tried the swamp or the corner. Seems this is the time of year when things set up pretty good in those areas. Sure would save on gas.

I haven't noticed boats working in there. Then again, I'm only down a couple days a week. Probably be worth a pass or two through the area to check it out and have a plan B. In that shallow water, FF wouldn't tell you much other than depth. Now if the charters are working those waters...

I can't get out until Saturday...I may just hang a right out of TBM early saturday morning and check it out. If the water looks decent it might be worth a couple of passes. Shouldn't take long to figure out. Just gotta remember to take the hot n tots to the boat.

The waters no good in the Swamp. Still to dirty. All these storms keep turning the water up. We need some stable weather and some southwest wind to bring fish into there.

Douggun..

The Corner is the area surrounding where the channel from Luna Pier marina comes out to the lake. It's only about 12' deep at the most within a mile of shore...and closer she's REALLY shallow...

Usually somewhere around the first two weeks of July there is a crawfish hatch.....The weather needs to be hot!! What happens is the walleye come up into the swamp and feed on the crawfish!!! Little Dandy and I learned from some charter captains of this hatch many many years ago. The best baits to pull are crawfish imitating baits. I've always had good luck with the Rebel Crawfish and if you keep an eye out for the charter boats in the marinas, Brest Bay, Bolles, TBM you will see them with them on the rods!! Then it's time! SSHHHH !! Don't tell anybody but EAs!! Right in front of the 3 stacks. 8 - 12 ft. Oh yeah, some years there's a poor craw hatch and it's not as good. So let's hope for a good hatch. I also hate wasting gas and sending our hard earned money to the Saudis.

how long does it have to be hot for the hatch to happen?looks like the hot weather is still forthcoming. would be real close for us. 3 stacks is consumers power, right? do you troll the rebel craws off the boards in water that shallow or is it cast and drift?

I have 5 acres and a 1/2 acre pond. 20 ft. deep. It warms up quicker than Lk. Erie. It's usually about 1 - 2 weeks ahead of it. I was just down there and there is an awful lot of crawfish mounds this year and they appear to be hatching right now. A lot of little ones. So in a week or two! Right on schedule I hope!

Note to Douggun-
They can be trolled (I run them off planar boards 20 -40 ft. back) or cast and drift. You want to be running them along the bottom.

UH, D76 series. They're all similar. The D74 2 1/2" 3/8 oz. dives 8-10 casting it says on the box. The D76 2 1/4" 1/4 oz. dives 7-9 ft. casting and the SD76 2 1/4" 1/4 oz. dives 8-12 ft. So you might want to try to experiment a little.
