I was reading the website of a charter captain who likes to fish Rogers City and Presque Isle and besides going on and on about how Rogers City has been the best brown trout fishery in Michigan for the last for years (?) he claimes that "Huron's steelhead and Atlantic salmon are also abundant during late spring" (?????)

Are Atlantic Salmon REALLY abundant off Rogers City in May?????

Are Atlantic Salmon ABUNDANT ANYWHERE in the great lakes ANYTIME????

Maybe he thinks pinks are Atlantic salmon? If it's true it's the best kept secret on the Great Lakes.

We do see lots of Atlantics on Drummond Island in May and June. Last year was the best ever with 4-5 Atlantics per trip. I hope this year provides the same also this should be the year for pinks as well.

We used to pick an atlantic salmon on occasion out of the southern basin of Lake Huron back five years ago. But I wouldn't say abundant, however I have no idea whether Ontario has continued to stock atlantics or not.

They are atlantic's for sure we do catch a lot of lake trout as well but their is no mistaking a atlantic for a lake trout. LSSU does a great job in stocking these fish last year they were named the Zink strain for a gentleman in our marina that has donated to the program over the years. We hope that this year is even better! A fight like a king with the jump of a steelhead! I can send you pictures if you like?

I added one picture and I will up load more soon. That one was of 2 Atlantic's we caught early in the season. They are easy to spot as their spots are more like a x.

Atlantics and the Detour area go hand in hand in May and June, Best thing about those Bad Boys are the Air time they have, If your fishing long leads on a shallow rigger they will be out of the water before they pull the line out of the release.
