Hey FLATRATE - why don't you take the opportunity to introduce your organization to the membership here. Visited your website and read through it this morning when I noticed your signature - congrats on the presidency (Hail to the Chief plays in the background)

Thanks for the compliment , The Michigan Steelhead and Salmon Fishermens Association a group of big lake trollers and river fishermen that was formed over 30 years ago to protect and promote our steelhead and salmon fishery. We have 21 chapters around the state and a state board of directors that meets in Lanising at MUCC hq's each month , each chapter has a state director on the board. We work with the DNR , legislature and the house to try to keep our fishery top notch and improving. Our chapters have club tournaments and membership meetings , fishing shows and clinics and outtings. More info. can be obtained from our website < www.mssfa.com>.

Ok - so I'm going to Join - which chapter would you suggest - I see there is a Whitehall, Grand Have, and a Grand Rapids chapter - just wondering about your opinion on this subject. I know you're the Pres. but which chaqpter do you think is most active - obviously the grand haven chapter will be closest - but whitehall is going to be about 20 minmutes away - Grand Rapids is about 30 mins. Thanks.

Greg, Grand Rapids and Grand Haven are both good chapters , they work together on several projects such as the net pens in Grand Haven and I have friends in both chapters. The Grand Rapids chapter is the larger of the two , but once you join one chapter you can join any other for thier local dues , normally 5 dollars per year , example = 30 membership to Grand Rapids chapter pays you local and state dues and then you could join Grand Haven or any other chapter for thier local dues , 5:00 for Grand Haven I beleive , others vary but most are 5 or 10 bucks and it entitles you to all the events and meetings from those chapters along with your subscription to Great Lakes Sportfishing News from the state office.
