Greg , a bead chain sinker is a rig sort of like the chain and hook on a j-plug without the hook and a small sinker molded into the middle of the chain. It is about 3 inches long with a snap on one end and a ring on the other end. They come in several different weights and I have seen them at Gander Mt. , Insta-Launch in Manistee and at Capt. Chucks in Ludington. I put the bead chain on the end of my line and then add about 8 feet of florucarbon leader to the lure , some guys like thier board to release and slide down the line and then they use the bead chain as a stop for the board to prevent the board from going all the way to the fish. I don't like my board to release and slide down the line , I prefer to leave it on and remove it and fight the fish without the board , same with my lead core rigs. I will try to find a picture of one and post it if I can.

yeah I use rubber bands on my boards and then just reel them through the eyes - with the Church makes it pretty easy to just pull the pin and go.

those are pretty slick - so how much depth do you get from the ones you're using now? what weights? I use Off-shore snap weights on occasion - but that looks like a really nice alternaitve.

Greg , I don't really know for sure the exact depth , I suspect approx. 2 or 3 feet with the 1/8 ounce and 4 to 6 feet with the 1/4 ounce depending on speed and lead lenght but I could be way off. I start with the 1/8 and then go to the 1/4 ounce and heavier as we get fish going. I think 1 color of lead core weighs 1/4 ounce and that goes about 4 or 5 feet per color.
