Went out with Dean (Slime Time) Rust this evening.
I heard they had moved off the piers and were hitting "spinnies" so we went out to give the Church Tackle Revelators a workout, leaving the dock at 6:30pm. We set lines at 7pm.

Our first fish came on a White/Emerald/Glow Spindoctor 89' down on a rigger in 89' of water so it was close to bottom and Dean wrestled in a 18# king that was 19# if you count the biggest lamprey eel I ever saw stuck on it! EEEEWWWWW

We hit a dry spell going almost an hour without a hit but then the Revelators kicked in. First a White/Double Glow Revelator pulling a Siggs Green Crinkle fly went off with a nice 15# king on a full core. While I was fighting it a half core went off with a steelie hitting a Stinger Double Orange Crush on a 1/2 core, which Dean got to the boat. We then had a hit on the other full core pulling a Chartruse/Glow Revelator pulling a No-See-Um action fly, but the fish came off seconds into the fight. Must not have been hooked well. Next the other core went off with the White/Glo/Glo Revelator and Green Crinkle again. Dean took another steelie that hit a Lemon Ice Flintstone spoon on a slider 50' down while I fought that king

Got all the lines back in the water and the Chart/Glow/No-See-Um Revelator goes again and we get the fish this time.

By now the sun was on the horizen and we decided to put some glow spoons on the rigger for the last 40 minutes but before we can set a rod BOTH wire divers go, one with a White/Blue/Glow Revelator pulling a Blue Bubble action fly and the other with a Black/Glow Revelator pulling a Purple Taco Crystal Fly (White/Mirage). We got both of the kings in the boat and we were done with 6 kings and two steelies for the two of us.

The Revelators were new to me this year and this is the first time I had them out when flashers were going strong (been a spoon bite for me mostly so far this year) and they proved themselves to me again. The Revelators took 5 of our 6 kings.

We fished from 70-105 FOW.

Hey Skip,

I have a friend running them - can you tell any difference in action versus SD or FCs. Just another weapon in the arsenal?

First thing I noticed is that they spin the opposite direction of a Spin Doctor and Fishcatcher. LOL....so maybe if you run Spindoctors on one side of the boat and Revelators on the other you will create a suction/vortex that pulls fish into the spread LITTERALLY1

Seriously though they seem to run in a little tighter circle, which I think is good for NOT reaching out and grabbing other lines.

I am not suggesting that everyone is supposed to throw away their SpinDoctors and Bechholds, just that when shopping for flashers you should give the Revelators a try. I assume that there will be days when the Revelators are hot and the others cold and vice versa.

All I can say is that this year I have been playing with the Revelators since Bill Church is a friend of mine and he asked me to field test them and give them an honest run. I was skeptical at first because the Bechholds and the SpinDoctors have done well by me, so I didn't start off using them in tournys etc when the chips were on the line, just started playing with them on "fun" trips and pre-fishing. Well they have proven themselves to me where I have a Revelator down at all times now and often more. And they are in my first rotation during tournys as well.

Last night we started banging them on the Revelators and soon had them on 4 of the 6 rods and all 4 in 4 different colors took 4 year old kings....

At this point if I was told I could only run Revelators as flashers I wouldn't sweat it one bit...since I am mostly running them anyway right now by choice!
