I was just looking at the spoon company that Josh is buying. Very nice. His website will be replacing the current one when ownership changes - I assume - but check them out http://www.redhooktackle.com and there is a link in the Links section of the site too. Got to try some from the upcoming season.

Who's using them - any feedback? Are they a Lake Ontario thing since the company is currently based in New York?

Greg , I ran some Raiders last year that Big PaPa gave to me to try , they seemed to work real good , I only ran the regular size , I don't know if they have a Mag. or not. They come with single hooks and the paint didn't come off like some spoons do and I caught enough fish on them to keep putting them back in the water. I know Josh was asking about some new color patterns for lake Mich. a while ago and I believe he will add new colors all the time.

Thanks for the plug, Greg!

Yes, I purchased Raider spoons and the sale became final on Saturday. I am working on new colors, and they should be available sometime in January. We do have a magnum size also. There will also be an update of the website in the near future which will feature close-up front and back shots of each spoon, as well as a message board.

I welcome all feedback you might have for how to make Raider Spoons a better product. I believe they have one of the toughest finishes on the market, and I will stand by that by guaranteeing them for life.

Congratulations Joshua! You're living one of my dreams. I've always wanted to have a tackle company or at least a store that sold other's lures. Guaranteeing your finishes for life? That'll jump start your sales. Best of luck in your new endeavor and let me know if there's ever anything I can do to help out.

P.S. I'll be waiting by the mailbox for my Raider field tester/pro staff starter kit.

Josh , glad to hear the sale is final , hope you had a good trip to N.Y. as I heard the weather was nasty out that way. As far as I am concerned I will continue to run Raider spoons , as you said the finish is tough and they catch fish. Looking forward to seeing your new colors this year. Maybe you could call one " shlevowitz " , kind of a nasty but killer color. Thanks again for the weekend of brown trout fishing and the hospitality you and your family showed us Michigander's.

Josh,

I'm glad to hear you'll have magnums. They're nearly all I use anymore. I think it has something to do with the fact that the fish over here in Huron are forced to eat bigger prey with the lack of their normal fare.

I'll join Rick in thanking you again for the great weekend. Swanton hospitality made the whole trip worthwhile. Sorry about the dent in your Canukistani whiskey supply. I think we all needed to wash out the taste of the Serbian Slevo.

Congrats on your purchase Josh. Glad to hear it is a done deal!!! If this is your first entrepenuerial adventure I welcome you to the club, if not , you already know what I mean

I know you said that you're going to avoid selling direct, which I completely agree with ... and I beleive you'll get unrivaled loyality from your resellers for sticking to that. So, if that is indeed the case I'm goign to ask you to pick favorites, where should I go buy your spoons online or otherwise, and when will the new colors hit the retailers?

New spoons - woooooohooooooo!!!!

Yeah, currently Big Pappa is the only online retailer. From what I'm told there will be a few orders in February for the sport shows and such, and then things will really pick up in May. So expect to see them in stores in May I guess. Maybe I can get Big Pappa to stock up on the new colors a little earlier than that, but I'm not pushing any retailers until I have things ready to go, and that won't be 'til mid-January probably.

Yes I'm guaranteeing them for life. That means if you send me a spoon that has an obvious paint failure, I'll replace it and reimburse your shipping cost. If you have a spoon that's all beat up from catching 100's of fish I won't replace it, and yes I can tell the difference. Well maybe I will anyway, so I can take that spoon and run it myself! I want quality to be the selling point for these spoons. That and the ability to put lots of weight in the box!

Robbie tested his paint by scraping it on concrete, 3 or 4 out of every 100 he painted were sacrificed to the Ready-Mix gods. Even after doing this the paint would not flake off in huge chunks like it would on some spoons. I expect the pro-staffers will get a lot of spoons with concrete scrapes on them!

Yes, this is my first business venture, Greg. Hope it doesn't kill me!

Congrats Josh, trust all goes well in your first year of ownership. I have used Raider spoons in the past and they continue to be good producers. Keep up the good work that is already started. If this is your first endeavor (like the Ridgebacks are mine) you will meet some wonderful and helpful people along the way.....embrace them, any of the others aren't worth your time and tears. Hope to see you at some tourneys this year.
Best,

I fished Raider Spoons last summer and that combined with some new color selections that Josh is putting together means some awfully heavy coolers. These spoons will be a favorite on the Great Lakes this Summer.

Bob was lurking around on here a little while ago. Maybe he's playing hard to get.

My best colors, Green Demon and the spook colors. They all did best on the dipsys. This year will be there breakthrough year with more Lake Michigan colors available. Guys I also got some of the new Fishlander colors from Mike Steffes and can say these will be some of the best for this summer.
