The Michigan DNR fishing report says that people are fishing off of Sand Point(Keweena bay) with cleos and catching coho. I was wondering if any one had done this or if anyone nows if it's true.

Thanks,

Tacklemaster,

Yes, it's true. Although I have never fished from the shore there myself, I have seen guys casting from shore and have heard that they catch fish (salmon and lake trout). I've trolled along the beach there and the water drops off very fast. You can cast out to 40 feet of water with a cleo or sweedish pimple with no problem. If the fish are there and they are hungry, you'll catch them. I have been trying to make the time to try it myself and seeing as how we are not getting any ice, it may happen within the next week or two.
