This past season had to be one of the best that I can remember.At times the fishing seemed to darn easy.I had trips this spring and summer that we left the dock at 6:00 and were back at 7:30.Most of those were with 5 man limits.
I started the season in the boat on the last weekend in March and it was a day to remember.Was fishing with my 2 best fishing friends and caught 2 14lb plus eyes about 5 minutes apart.Those were my first 14lb fish after fishing Erie for 33 years.
The trolling bite out by the cans in front of Camp Perry was excellent for big fish through the month of April.
The jig bite near shore in front of Turtle Creek was as good as ever with 4 days of catching and releasing over 100 eyes a day.This fishing was done within 1/4 mile of shore.The summer bite was excellent trolling between the Gravel Pit and West Sister as well as the Brest Bay area.
2007 should be just as good with the fish being in the 3-4 class this year.
The fall fishing was great as well any where Sterling State Park all the way east to Cleveland trolling cranks.Over all ,I would have to say the Eye bite was great and Erie lived up to being the Walleye Capital of the world once again.
