Went to Ludington Saturday morning in search of the Browns. Not a single release... not even a false adrenaline rush!

One of two things happened. (1) There were no fish or (2) I have no clue what I am doing when it comes to Browns.

I almosted attempted to throw the tackle box at one when I finally marked it, just to see if I could knock it out...

Surface temp - 43' to 38'
12' temp - 40' to 41'
175' temp - 36' (ok... I got bored after trolling the shorline for 6 hours!)

Any other reports from up there this weekend? Would really like to know if I need to restudy and rethink my Brown's attack. Or was I simply too early with the extended winter we had?

Thanks! And Good Luck!

DJ

PS. As I was heading towards Muskegon yesterday afternoon, I saw an older Chevy with an 'Educated Angler' sticker across the back window!

Did you run all stick baits or did you have a spoon or two mixed in?I used to do a lot of Brown fishing and I had reel good luck with a spread that had several spoons mixed in with the sticks.

Did you try running a lure behind an inline planer right up against the rocks on the piers? If there's any browns to be had, that's a great place to start.

Coz I hope you appreciate the brown trout fishery you guys have over there. Compared to the WI side of the lake it is pretty dismal over here. I hear they are preparing to try a new strain of brown for stocking though. Hopefully it will improve things over here.
