Friday morning my son Tom and his buddy Doug joined the crew. We tried Manistee again. Same story. High Temp was low 70s. Nobody doing any good on anything. We had a hit on a Candy corn silverstreak about 6:00 in the river and the reel froze and broke the fish off. It was a screamer too. A second fish leaped in the air and swam into a dipsy trolled back about 40 ft. and sawed it off. Hmmm. We had several charter captains tell us they went cold also. SSE winds 10 mph and 1 - 2 waves. Hundreds of boats in the harbor and the lake. Keith went home and the three of us went back out Friday evening. Nothing. Hardly marked a fish in the lake. Nobody caught anything from the piers either. We had some friends fishing the piers at Manistee all weekend and they said nobody caught any from there Friday either. If you told me I would troll for 2 full days morning and evening outside Frankfort and Manistee at the end of August and catch nothing, I would've said you were crazy.

I was up in manistee all week last week from monday the 25th til sunday the 31st. And we ended with a total of 46 fish. friday we pulled a 3 person limit of kings with a bonus coho. all by 9 a.m. That evening took a different crew and hauled a couple of very nice spawners. The fishing was excellent out passed the shelves and to the south. tons of fish to be marked and plenty of bait.

Yeah, it got better once the weekend hit. We talked to hundreds of people over the course of six days - dozens every day. We hit all the tackle shops also. Nobody did good until the weekend hit. You were lucky on Friday! Got any photos? What worked? How about some posting?
Did you get any bat?
Did anyone else get any bat?

Steve

working on pics still, classes started back up this week. I best bite was on flies everyday, from monday on til sunday. I think i took a total of maybe 8 hits on spoons out of the 75 we had throughout the week. Those were moonshine, red flounder, and moonshine. Best fly by far was oceana, with a big white paddle in front of it. half our hits for the week were on that, DEEP!!

As for bats yes, everyday we had them flying around none landed on the boat, but neat to watch flying out there.
