Inboard Outboard drive couplers
Have every thing to do with
Motor mounts and alignment
They both have to be in good shape. For the drive train to be dependable
The little rubber fellows (motor mounts) at the bell housing that are often neglected
If any oil leaks on them they are shot
They should ALWAYS be changed with and when a drive coupler is changed
They are the number two cause of drive coupler failures.
The alignment can be perfect when motor is at rest but the motor mounts have to keep the motor in position when the boat is underway
Have seen more than a couple repeat failures of drive couplers this year because some one forgot to change the motor mounts .
So we decided to put up this post
