Thanks Frank. I toke the boat to another marina and the couldnt find any thing wrong either. They did say the belt was a little loose and tightened it. Hopefuly they know what their doing...

you dont have to be a mechanic to know what a bad sound is . problems dont fix them selves and most cases will return the day the fish are biting or friends from out of town want to go for a ride .
at the very least all fluid levels should be checked some thing has got hot and when it was cooled down again the noise goes away . the drive could be full of water and water will lubricate a little this is the most often cause of a situation like yours some where there is most likely a bearing going out if there is water in the dive there could be a couple bearings and gears going out . any way as you suspect it should be looked at a bit closer
