Have been out on the ice on Saginaw bay once so far this year. Ice was Ok, only getting better as the weather stays cold. Didn't get into any fish, but that is only a matter of time b4 I find them. Just wondering if anyone else from this site has been out, and if you have had any success.
Good Luck...

From the sounds of things there is a decent amount of ice. But also from another post on another site this snow we got is making some spots slushy, not sure if the ice is great right now. Be careful w/ that quad on the ice. Looking at the satellite view of the bay it will be locked up pretty soon. Thinking of taking another trip out this weekend. But again from the satellite the east side looks like you could get out farther and go for the eyes instead of the shallow water on the west side. Good Luck... And be careful.

What's the matter Lance...you don't like jumping cracks????
LOL
Funny story...last February we had great ice on Lake Erie for about 4 weeks. Occasionally a freighter must go through for inter-lake commerce, so the ice-cutter swiped a path about 8 miles offshore from Crane Creek. Duckdude was out fishing about 4 miles out the day after the ice cutter went through. As expected, the ice "moved" a bit that day (wind aided) and while sitting on his bucket amongst friends plying for walleyes....off in the distance he hears a rumble...then that rumble gets louder...the ice starts to shake a bit...then...
BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM!!!!!!!!!!!
The concussion from all of that breaking ice knocked one of his friends off of his bucket!!!!!!!
A 2-3' crack opened up about a mile offshore. Thankfully the ice was 15" or so thick, so the guys could just jump it when they returned....

I don't know that this weather I woke to this morning is conducive for good ice. The thermometer read 48 degrees, and it was raining sideways. Wouldn't be surprised if this weather really throws a monkey wrench in the spokes. Not to mention that the wind gusts out of the south were up to 40mph, I bet a lot of ice has been blown out. Anyone live on/near the bay can give a report????
