Out of Bolles at 5:30 pm to Turtle Is. Very muddy and rough, couldn't get anything going. As it turned out we were too far north. Went between Bolles and TB in 10' and started hitting. The closer it got to dark the more they hit. Using blade baits in firetiger and chartreuse. Two man limit then catch and release.

Sat. am went back to the same spot from the night before and dead. Went to Turtle Is. but farther south from the previous afternoon and started getting them. Many boats in the area. Used the same program and limited in one pass. Some catch and release then headed home. A good two days of fun.

Most were 17"-19" With an occasional one 20+ and some down to 15 1/2". They were all male BTW. Looks like we had a better 2004 spawn than the DNR thought. I didn't look at a scale from one of the fish so can't say for sure but the size sure indicates it. Guess I will have to pull a scale from one when I go on Monday.

i agree lilripper, we have been throwing alot of 15-16 inch fish back this year....and catching a lot around teh 18-20 inch range(03 class)....good to know that others are catchign thos size fish as well...thats g reat thing for our fishery!

easy 6 man limits both days this weekending fishing just south of the dumping grounds....get out at 6am...and done before most boats are even out there!

Ended up not going Monday, the guy I was taking had to work. In as much as I was going to Port Clinton Tues. and Wed. I decided to stay home and work around the house. PC was okay, 142 eyes for 12 guys in two days. Dodged thunderstorms on Tues afternoon but the bite was the better than Wed. Jigs were the best Tues., bottom bouncer and crawler harness was the best on Wed. Color did'nt seem to be much of a factor, purple or black were good but we used them the most. Same size fish.

Al
