Just got off the phone with the DNR. Sterling will be open for launching on weekends and starting at noon the 24th for the memorial day weekend. Completion is scheduled for May 31st. Could be sooner as the dredging co. is being fined for not completing on time so every day is costing them money.

They are getting a press release together right now so the information will be released soon.

I enjoyed the story by BFG. I have never met him but already I like him. That is what it's all about. Hats off to BFG!

Well it's about dang time they get that work done. One can only imagine the $$$ lost in launch fees and such with that debacle, not to mention the pinch to the local gas stations, party stores, etc. around Sterling.

Heck...even the car wash across the street gets some boat business...

Something definitely had to be done. I fished out of there 2 years ago with my brother in law, and even when we were "in the channel" we didn't mark over 2' of depth until we made it over to where the permanent docks are located. Lord help you if the wind blew out of the West/Southwest.

The challenge now will be to keep the new channel from silting in over time.

Not sure how this will impact the dredging but one of the dredge operators just passed away. Not sure of the circumstances other than it was not on the job. Sad to hear, condolences to his family.
