I know alot of walleye fishermen use mini divers off planer boards, bj mini-disks, little dipsies etc. My question is how many of you also use full sized divers like the salmon fishermen use? Obviously I'm not talking about behind planers, just set, let out and stuck in a holder.

I've been on Erie charters where they are used. I've used them myself occassionally. They work fine. I don't think the walleye are put off the bite by them but non-metallic colors seem to get the nod more often that the flashy ones.

Salmonhead will probably chime in with some story about taking boatloads of walleye using his salmon tackle at last years Walleye Smackdown

I would have to say the big divers are my go to rod. I use the big divers with no ring to find the fish and then dial my other rods into that depth. I use 2 divers for 15 foot and less and deeper then 15 foot double divers. I've run up to four divers per side over in Huron, Ohio in the deep water.
Honestly on a tough day my divers will take 50 percent or more of my fish.

Metallic pink is one of the best diver colors.

Interesting approach I've been missing out on. May try some experimenting with that later today.

This months Woods-N-Water magazine has an article about using Jet Divers with spoons. I have used the smaller dipsys with better results and also use "no stretch" lines with the rods rigged with the dipsys. It's much easier to get a release if you have a bit of line out. We have even put harnesses on the dipsys about 48" long and have awesome success.

We run big boards with 4 jets40s or BJ mini-disks on the tow lines....we then run 2 dipsey divers(size 0) with rings....

they seem to be hot or cold for us, but they are great for setting quick to get 4 rods in the water while messing with the big boards and getting the planer board rods set....

we like em...and color does not seem to be a BIG difference for us....we like the watermelon scheme....some guys use clear or paint em black and swear by it....we seem to not have that problem running the metallic colors

when we head north for wheatley or erieaeu ONT for steelhead fishing, we run 3 dipseys a side along with our downriggers and leadcore and usually take a lot of walleye as well on the dipseys...

get a couple and try em out, i think you'll like it...
