It's basically the same program that you guys run for browns in the winter at Bender. Boards, divers, and sectional cores. Most guys will use 10-15# mono for their board rods, and then braid for their divers.
5 colors of lead will be plenty...no need for anything more than that in the Western Basin of Erie. June usually starts the use of the small spoons behind mini-dics and divers, along with the cores. Faster-action cranks like Hot n Tots, Wiggle warts, and Rapala Taildancers also work very good.
Color depends on water clarity, but we usually have decent visability by June. Golds, purples, pinks, blue/greens, and chrome/black patterns are the norm. Leaders behind the mini-discs are typically 4-6', based on comfort level for netting purposes. Gold and copper-backed spoons (hammered finish) have been "the rage" the last few years, but I've taken plenty of fish with silver backed spoons as well. Jet divers (20's) really shine at this time.
I usually recommend that guys look into the "tattle flags" for their inline boards, as there will be a lot of "by-catch" at this time of year. White bass, white perch, and sheepshead will keep you busy. On my first trip with Little Dandy last year in August, we went through 50+ releases in about 3 hours...catching our walleye limit, but also catching a bunch of white bass and sheepies. Remember, only two rods per fisherman on Erie.
Many guys troll crawler harnesses as well, but to be honest, I don't like messing with all of that if I don't have to do so. Those units require a slower troll, and the guys with whom I fish like to cover a lot of water when it warms (expect surface temps to be around 70 degrees) as the fish will be spread out.
There is a bait store across the channel from the Bolles Harbor launch which has a decent selection of tackle, and also perch minnows if desired. When you look at a map of the Western Basin, look at the area from Pte. Mouillee all the way to the south to the Ohio line. The water in that line is about 20-24' deep, and holds fish annually during the summer months. Ohio water is relatively close to Toledo Beach, so keep that in mind as well. There should be plenty of fish to be caught in MI waters, but if this year goes like the past few, there will be larger fish to be caught (not numbers though) out by W. Sister island in OH water. Perching is good out there as well.
The mayfly hatch will be just getting fired up, so be sure to tell the guys to keep at least one lure in the top 7' all the time, on a board away from the boat.
There is a daily launch fee at Bolles Harbor. Be sure to follow any and all navigational markers, especially out of Bolles. The water directly to the south of the harbor is very shallow...but once you have cleared the last marker, all should be fine.
I'll be pre-fishing and have my feelers out prior to the event so that I can point guys in the general direction if needed. There will also be plenty of local guys around to assist (Tacklemaster and his Dad, Chip77, etc.).
Pray for good weather and any wind that doesn't have East in it!!
Hope that helps.

So Roamer and BFG, are things updated? Also, since I am bringing my boat, Little Dandy should have one opening that was being held for me. I wasnt sure I could scrounge up a crew, but I am full now, so Mike should have room for 1.
Let me know how the spreadsheets work out. P And don't forget, Roamer is the default boat. Anyone that is looking for a ride should be able to fit on that boat!!
Yum yums here we come!!!!

I think these estimates are conservative. For some people on the list, we do not know how many people they are bringing with them, so I'm doing some guestimating. We also have a couple of "maybe" boats.
