Want to catch some walleye? Jerk a few perch? Have a cookout/shore lunch?

This event takes place during the hot time of year for Lake Erie walleye. It is scheduled for the free fishing weekend in Michigan so if you're fishing Michigan waters you don't need a license.
BFG will be posting details as they come about, you can contact him at the email address above, or post your questions or comments here.

In an attempt to organize this event so that all runs as smooth as possible, we'll use the format of the EA Outing in Ludington as our template.
Basically we need those interested to either post up or contact me directly (via email is fine) regarding their intentions, with the following information:
Persons attending (including yourself)
Need a ride?
Have a boat with room for other members?
Fishing both days?
That'll be enough to start. Hoping we can get a nice turnout for this event. Little Dandy (Mike) and Roamer (Hal) both keep their boats at Toledo Beach Marina. It is a very nice marina, in fact, probably the nicest one on this end of the lake. There is a launch (one lane) and also transient slips are available. We'll have Mike post up more information regarding the marina. I know that they have a restaurant and bar, along with a fish cleaning station. We'll do our best to try to work with everyone in regards to slips and such. There is also another DNR launch 3 miles up I-75 at Bolles Harbor which could be used as a launch facility should you decide not to slip your boat. Bolles is probably the best public launch on MI waters.
The plan will be to fish Saturday and Sunday, having a cookout of sorts on Saturday afternoon. I'm sure that guys coming from a distance (that would be you Wisconsin lads) will likely arrive sooner than later..which is great.
The fishing should be outstanding. The 2003 year class of fish should all be in the 3-4# range in 2007, and there should be plenty of larger fish around to be had as well. No guarantees...but I would hope that we could put some serious #'s of fillets in the coolers. Michigan limit is 5 walleyes per person, per day. Ohio waters are close as well, and the limit is 6 walleyes per day. You may not catch limits in both states in the same day. Perching should be excellent as well, although most seem to target the walleyes.
In the next few days, I'll be posting information on hotels, restaurants, attractions, etc in the Monroe, Michigan area. Detroit and its casinos (not to mention Windsor) are about an hour or so away. There is a Prime Outlet at Monroe, although it is not the best one that I have seen. Toledo is 15 minutes away, and there is a multitude of things to do there, including shopping, dining, and the ever-present Mud Hens (AAA baseball, incredibly nice stadium, new in 2004).
So start posting up, and keep tabs on this thread. Looking forward to having a bunch of fun on the shores of Lake Erie with all of our Educated Angler friends.
Do not hesitate to contact me should you have questions. More information to come very soon.
Regards,

Well I'll be there one way or another. I'm a first mate out of Toledo Beach. I think my Dad, brother and my friend Jim will fish the tournament on my dads boat In The Net. As long as Jim and I don't have charters we'll be fishing. That’s my favorite time of the year the walleye should be snapping. We should be there both days.
If anyone has any questions about Toledo Beach and fishing the area I'll be more then happy to help you out.
Jim and I will also clean fish for a 1 dollar a fish. As long as we don't have charters. Help poor college students.
I must defend the home port.

BOO' YAAH I've been waiting for this post so I could Ante up! Count me in!! I can't wait to get out for my first time on the legendary Lake Erie! I am not sure if it will be just me or I will have a partial crew. I will almost certainly have room for at least 2 more. Will be bringing the 22 hewes.
I am a tenative at this point. After last night's discussion on chat with the midgit overlooking my shoulder, not sure that will work with Breannes' first birthday, but I have 6 months to get things worked out. REALLY want to make it happen. I can bring the Salmonhead or ride along, either way.

My home marina, I'm in. Already have family in town that weekend to fish Saturday, with Sunday as a blow day because of the free fishing weekend deal. Depending on who makes it, I may have room for a couple more anglers Saturday. Might run 2 trips that day as well. Will also be fishing Friday & Sunday and should have some room.
If you're bringing a boat, I recommend you have a chart of the area waters. Those of you used to fishing over deep water will need to get come to grips with the idea of fishing in 16' to 25' of water. (on edit: or less)

There are hotels 3 miles up the road at exit 11 (La Plaisance Road). Toledo Beach Marina is located off exit 9 (S. Otter Creek Road). Those wanting to use a public launch rather than slip their boats should use the Bolles Harbor access (exit 11, La Plaisance road).
More to come, and Keith..if you still have room...I'd be glad to show you around my back yard...
