This thread discusses the Content article: Trolling Strategies: Multiple Divers

Paul-

Nicley done, a lot of good information. I'm yet to take the leap to multiple divers per sides. This is something I've been considering, along with possibley adding slide divers, which we havn't used yet.

So my questions are these:

1) Does running a second set of divers that are not the same as the first set make you any more likley for tangles due to diffrent 'running' charicteristics?

2) Other than the obvious, which is that the leader is infinatley adjustable on a slide diver, do you consider there to be other advatanges between a 'normal' diver like the dipsey versus the slide divers?

Thanks for any feedback!

1) YES, however, with some practice and keeping close tabs on what is going on, you can run multiple divers of different sizes and rings and such without incident. It is just way easier to master multiples if everything is the same for starters.

2) Slide divers are great too, but they do run differently than dipseys. Not bad, just different. I like the leader thing now and then, but find myself using the diver as an attractor most of the time. I try to match diver color with certain rigs under certain conditions. Slide divers certainly have their days. The biggest downfall for me on my boat is storage of slide divers. I have to break down my diver rods to get them into my cabin comfortably and a slide diver is rigged to the line, so its a bit more of a snarl down below for me. On boats like EO, its a non factor since all rods stay full sized and placed onto a bed down below. I would say pic one or the other for starters until you get used to them. Then add in the other or different sizes after you get the hang of it.

Thanks guys. Also a heap of credit needs to go to Greg and Tom for their fine editing work and for having the foresight enough to realize there is a need for articles like these.
