Decided to make a last minute trip up to Saginaw Bay to fish with my brother for walleye on Sunday morning. Being a relative novice at walleye fishing, I really did not have many expectations. We headed north out of the Saginaw River into the Bay about 9 miles to an area I'm told is called the black hole. We stayed in that general area fishing about 23-24' of water the entire morning. We only fished about three hours and managed 10 eyes, one sheepie and one white bass. All fish were taken on Yeck Y11 copper plated walleye spoons. Since we had no idea what was working, we simply deployed 8 different color patterns on our 8 rods. The Killer Bee seemed to be our most productive on a rigger down 18' but we did also take some fish on 1 and 1.5 oz inline weights 50-60' behind the boards on other orange/red/copper variations. All in all, a great day on the water!
