johnson 150 ignition timing

Frank, on a 2000 johnson 150 plssc outboard,can you adjust the ignition timing with a timing lite,or do you only adjust it with that omc ignition tester tool? thanks

you can check it with the light, but is faster easyer and more accurate with the tool .FYI all ways confirm the TDC pointer before macking any timing adjustments !!!
there is a ignition controle box update for those motors comes with a new OSI module
it is a optical system and a timing light can mess with the optical module . do not point the light twards the osi pick up modual

what problem did the older ignition boxes have? how can I tell if it has the new design one on the motor know? thanks
