This thread discusses the Content article: Trolling Strategies: Leadcore

Great Article it got my attention!

It would be nice if links were provided for the authors known vendors of the gear he describes. It would also be nice feature if readers who know of other vendors could add to the authors list of links.

I haven't a clue where to find lead core in my area (Texas), or seven strand either. www.7strand.com leads me to a Berkley site that does nto seem to be selling it. I need to find out what 6 mph trolling speed will do to the depth of Lead Core. I need to run as far down as 35 feet, with a minimum of 30# test line, at 6 mph.

Try this place for leadcore...as it is where Paul purchases his leadcore.

www.outdoorsmenproshop.com

I'm pretty sure that is the link...otherwise, Google "The Outdoorsman Jenison, Michigan" and you should find your way to their site.

Cabelas also sells it, along with the wire. Try looking for "Malin" wire.

Hope that helps.

Welcome to EA, Don!

You may want to try talking directly to the manufacturers of Lead Core line...here are some links and/or contact info:

Mason Tackle Co.
11273 Center St
Otisville, MI , 48463-9707
Phone: 810-631-4571
FAX: 810-631-8695

Cortland (their Lead Core is called Kerplunk) - this is our personal preference on Team EO
http://www.cortlandline.com/

Western Filament
http://www.wfilament.com/

And here is a link to a manufacturer of Copper Wire -

Opti-Tackle
http://www.optitackle.com/copperssline.shtml

Other well-known brands of copper wire are Howie and G-Fly but I didn't find any manufacturer links for those.

Most of these lines are available from a variety of specialty retailers, like the Outdoorsmen Pro Shop mentioned above, as well as Cabelas, and Bass Pro Shop.

Hope that helps,
Tom
