Not sure how many have seen this, but some of the initial indicators for this years hatch look good. If this year was a bust I was thinking of selling my boat!!

Lately we've been catching a fair number of smaller (14-16") fish since the water temps got hot. I'm no expert, but I'm guessing they are NOT the runts of the 2003 fish class. My guess is they are from later years and just couldn't compete with the shear numbers of 03s for food. Now that they are getting a little bigger they are starting to get their fair share. Also caught many walleyes in the 8-10" range this year. I think the future doesn't look too bad at all. Time will tell. Don't sell the boat yet.

There have been a fair number of 12-14 inch fish caught this year and my last trip out we caught about eight 6 inch walleyes. I call that job security. So the population should be in good shape for a few years.

I agree. The boat is still in the driveway. Shouldnt go anywhere anytime soon

Now if we could just dig a 60 foot hole out by the light house to bring the steelhead a little closer!

About 100 sq miles worth to give everyone plenty of room. I'd be all for that dredging project.
