Had an easy day at work yesterday. 2 pieces of casing, 1 piece of base, and seal a tile floor. Left plenty of time to make it out for an evening fish. My fishing buddy and I headed to the river in Saginaw. We were down river just a bit from the BEAN, ice was OK, maybe 3-4" of good clear stuff underneath with a couple of inches of the white ice on top of that. Setup in a little run there, wasn't 5 minutes and my buddy, who was sitting right next to me in my shanty, iced a nice 20"er. He put that on the ice with some new spoon he bought, a buckshot spoon with a rattle on it. About an hour had past and he brought another up on the same spoon, this time only 18 3/4". I missed 2 throughout the evening. He missed one more, and I think it would have been an absolute slob. Had his rod doubled over and was peeling line pretty good, lost it. Really would have like to seen that one. I can still say it was a good day to be out there, sun was shining, and we, he, came home with a few fish.
