Hello guys, This will be my first year fishing
out of my own boat and I am getting ready to by
a fish finder. I am looking at the Lowrance 525 df.
i'm not sure whether to get the internal gps or external? What do ya think of this unit. I only have
about 700 to play with. Thanks for any input.::

Not familiar with that particular unit model, but as far as the antenna goes..... if you have a place to mount an external, I beleive they get a better reception. Mostly due to less interference. Even my buddy with the 18 lund gets the external and mounts in on the gunnel forward of the side console. He had a unit with the internal for a while and it would lose signal all the time, then re-find itself and beep to let you know and then off again and so forth. not too big a deal if you dont have a place to mount the antenna, but pretty damn annoying if you could have mounted the antenna somewhere.
