I've got a 1978 85hp Evinrude and am wondering the difference between it and a 115. My question would be a guess, is it just a change of the carbs/intake or is their more to it? Thanks very much in advance for any info!

Thanks much, Garrett

NOT THAT SIMPLE
actually the biggest diferense is the exhaust system
putting a bigger carb on the 85 hp will not alone add HP but more likely just waste some fuel

Hondacat, thanks again for your time! I have both motors . Got the 115 for free for the extra parts and lower unit(it's got bad rings in one cyl). I guess a better question would be, can I swap out the power heads and the exhaust housings, or are they not interchangable?

i cant be positive with out seeing the motors but i belive they are interchangeable the adapter housing and exhaust header must be changed to up the horse power though carburators alone wont do it
