Iam looking at autopilot for a 2002 sportcraft 232. I think Simrad and Ray marine are about my only choices for the cable assisted steering. Anyone like one over the other? Any good luck or bad luck stories out there?

I have a Raymarine Sport Pilot on a 2655 Bayliner Cierra with a Cobra I.O. and have had good luck with it. I know some people don't like the Sport Pilot but so far so good for me. If you go with the Sport Pilot (don't even know if it is still made) make sure you get the rudder reference indicator for it as it makes a big difference.

I suggest going the Simrad route Awesome customer service not a bad install You will not find one person that I know of that regretted going with a simrad. The sportpilot is a little harrier You can find several people who have the sportpilot and are not happy with it Not sure if its the people putting them in or what just seems to me its not hard to find them used on ebay and various swap boards where as I have only ever seen 1 used simrad on ebay I have the ap 14 r and wouldnt give it up for the world just my opinion Scott

Thanks for the reply. I like the simrad unit unfortunately on the sportcraft you have to cut into the bulkhead to install the unit not quite sure what to do on the inside of the cuddy????
