We were finally able to make the trip over to Kenosha for the long weekend. We left on Friday around 00:30 so that we could arrive in time to fish that morning. Long drive, took some turns driving and finally arrived.

We were greeted by some hella SE winds with a constant 4ft swell and some occasional 6's in the mix. Only fished for 2 hours and went 2 for 6. Had alot of hook ups but couldnt keep them on for some reason. Could have been the boat surging I reckon. Both were steelies, one on a DR and one on a slide diver. Could not fish the evening shift due to some Tornado's and what not.

On Sat we decided to follow out a local charter captn'. Had to run by radar the entire time, but it was cool to actually use it! Started out south and only pulled one so we turned N to where we did ok the night before. Ended the day 8 for 15 I think. Both Coho's and Steelies in the mix. A slide diver with a little spin doctor fly combo did well all weekend for us (Todd's special). Also lead core did ok as well. Once again, could not fish at night due to the hella storms.

Sunday we went out to where we were the day before and did well. 15 for 20 in 5 hours of fishing. Everything worked pretty well, with that one slide diver do really well, and the riggers actually had a double on, one on the slider and one on the main. Only were able to bring the main one in however.

We made a few friends over the radio (local charter guys) and in Sunday we were the first boat in the area and actually gave a few charter guys our info and got a few thanks. Afterwards one came up and gave us his card and said to call ahead next year and he will give us some starting info so we don’t go out blind again.

Stayed with my Grandma and got super fat. She is full Italian and loves to cook. So room and board were free along with the majority of the meals.

Overall it was a good trip and think we plan to do it again next year. The fish aren’t very big compared to Frankfurt, but it is still fun and only cost around 100 bucks per guy (at current fuel rates), so not bad. The facilities are excellent - awesome guarded marina with locked access, sweet fish cleaning station with a huge macerator - just throw your guts in the middle of it. Just wish the weather was abit nicer.

Thanks to Keith for the help and equiptment leading up to the trip.

Here are some pics

Jerry,

Looks like your crew needs to invest in some goretex.

Glad you had fun but next time stick around and enjoy the walleye smackdown. The Lady Bridge folks all had a blast.

Friday evening I have a musky trip at St. Clair with Optimist and HawkEye. Saturday I'll be back after the eyes with a boat load of Atlanta folks.

uncontrollable circunstances brought us to make the trip that weekend...it was a bummer it fell on the EA smackdown weekend as it sounded like another great year.....

as spoiled as we are to have Lake Erie in our backyard, and as bad as this will probably sound, I would much rather any day of the year go fish for silver than reel in wet rags on Erie....don't take it the wrong way, but man those fish are a riot!!!

We went out of Kenosha blind with pretty much no help due to the cold temps and front constantly moving in and put together an awesome program that landed us 41 strikes in about 12 hours of fishing....Thanks keith for the flies and dodgers...they put fish in the box! those hooks are hella sharp!!!!!

The port of Kenosha was an awesome place, the charter captains were hella nice and the fish cleaning station was top notch compared to any other ports we have stayed at!

ya gotta feel good when charter boys are hailing us to get info.....BWAAAAAHH!!!!

Thanks again JD, can't wait again for next year!!!

If you think Kenosha is good Corey..you should run that Contender across to Port Washington in late July-August...

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!!!!!!!!!!

Glad you had a good time, and sorry I couldn't be more help with the reports. Bird Dog hadn't fished in a couple weeks, and the two calls I made in the week leading up to your trip over there went un-returned...which usually means..."not good."

Glad you got into some fish...and yep...Kenosha is a helluva nice place from which to fish.

Clark - thanks for the efforts....i appreciate all the work....it seemed like the charter were not sure on where to go as well....they were pretty scattered....

dont leave Port Washingont out....our goal is to add a new port every year....just a little change of pace and different scenery....Lake MI is beautiful...and everyone seems to nice and friendly to talk too...so maybe PW next year or even this year is we can swing it....

I know the bows will be snapping up north very soon on Erie and we will be concentrating on that until the Kings show up in Frankfort....

EXCELLENT!
I'm glad you guys got into the fish!
Glad the flies worked, I knew they would, cause they always do for me.
I just wish I could've been around when you were here, but hey... we brought home 99 tasty wet dish rags
