What do you guys and gals think of a salmon smackdown on Lower Lake Huron next spring 2009? With the spring we had this year it should be good fishing. We could do Lexington or Port Sanilac. The kings are coming back and the steelies are better than ever. Just trying to throw this out there to get some ideas.

I'm interested and could probably scrounge up a crew. What would you say is the peak time in that area, what dates are you thinking of? You probably don't want to schedule it too close to early June or you'll conflict with the walleye outing.

I was thinking the end of April but the Salmon Stakes tourny is at the end. The the Can-Can in Harbor Beach is in early May. Then there is another tournament in early May put on by Anglers in Lexington. I dont know how many members would fish these tournys. If there are none we could do the weekend of the Salmon Stakes. Should be good fishing around then. We could do the middle of April but that fishing is hit or miss. And very weather dependant. I would hate for people to bring boats over and not get fish.

Maybe we need to rethink this a little. What about lower Lake Michigan? St. Joe? South Haven?

Or if we do a Lake Huron trip by mid May fish are starting to show up in Grindstone or PA. Lots of lakers but plenty on action.
