any truth to the old wives tale about changing the name of a boat and having bad ju-ju? any comments or stories of unfortunate incidents?

I've heard the tales, but never heard any specific stories. Here's an interesting Renaming Ceremony:

If you need assistance disposing of the excess Champagne, I can be available.

I'd think twice about using beer. I've heard that Poseidon is a Champagne type of guy, and you don't want to offend him.

Of course, there's always Miller High Life, "The Champagne of Beers."

gotta love the coors light. got hooked in college. summer special $10 a case. besides, i'm not wasting my jim beam by pouring it in the water. we'll get some champagne for posiedon and keep him happy. i'll dispell bad karma (and good judgement) with the coors. peaser can't wait to do it. sounds like a lot of fun. anyone else ever performed the ceremony?
