When a rigger rod goes off, reel like mad until the line is tight before removing the rod from the holder. Minimizing the time that the line is slack will result in a better hook-up ratio.

I can not take the credit for this one, saw it posted somewere before.

Make a bunch of flies with one color. then stack them on the line to form the multy color selection you want. with just a dozen colors you have probably thousands of multy color selections for your fly to build on the water.

No longer can say you just do not have the right combination built for that day.

Check your line for nicks and abrasions and your hooks for damage and sharpness after EVERY fish. The fish of a lifetime could be next!

I have a tip, I learned this from first hand experience. Never weigh in a big cooler the day before a super derby. Your spot will surely belong to everyone else.

Don't pigeon hole wire to deep depth fishing. It's productive at all depths.

Don't forget to check your fly leader including under the beads after every fish.
