Still breaking in the new Honda 150, but it is running strong...and silent. I can't get over how quiet it is, even at 5000 rpm. You can carry on a normal conversation at the helm without yelling. I think the boat is still a bit slow to plane, so I am thinking about raising the motor at least 1 hole. Haven't been able to run WOT yet because of the break-in period, so I'm not sure what RPMs it's turning at WOT. Raising the motor will generally increase RPMs, so I might be able to go up 2" in pitch. I think that should help the hole shot.

don't forget those pesky trim tabs - that'll help big time - she does run great, fast, and quiet. When are you going to name her?

Yeah, trim tabs will really seal the deal. But I want to get the performance dialed in as much as possible before going to the tabs. Besides, it's kind of fun to tweak and see what the results are.

I don't know about a name...haven't found a good one yet...any ideas?

if you are a little slow out the hole you will probably have to go down on the prop pitch . these motors have to get to the 6000 rpm mark to perform rite !
after you get her broke in take it out and see if it gets to the 6k mark ask you honda dealer to check with tech services and see if they might have prop reports for your boat or one that is close in size and shape weight
I think you will love this motor the more you run it I know i do with mine

Tom, am I correct to assume this is on a whaler? I had a 97 90hp on a Lund and loved it. The V-tec is even better. That is the best 150hp motor on the water according to my research. good luck with it!!!

Yeah, Paul...it is on a Whaler. What gave it away?

It is on an 18 Outrage...one of the newer deep-V Outrages. Here is a photo:

It goes pretty good, Rick, but it is a huge 18 footer...and very heavy. 8'4" beam and 2500 lbs....not exactly an aluminum Lund. I am still working on proper propping...right now getting about 44-45 mph WOT. And the hole shot could be a bit better. I think I can get it a bit faster to get on plane. But the Honda is quiet, quiet, quiet...and barely uses any fuel. I love it...it will troll all day for pennies.
