Hi Ladies - h2ohazard here. I'm a member of the Team Experience Outdoors with Tiara3600 and Whaler. I've been fishing since I was a child with my Dad. These days its mostly salmon fishing out of Ludington and flats fishing in the Keys over the winter. I'm the unofficial photographer of educatedangler.com you can see most of our fishing trips and outings in the Gallery. You can even find a few pictures of me there. Jennifer

"No Romance on the Water"
Hello Lady anglers. Its nice to see a m-board for us. I've been fishing for about 5 years now and absolutley love it. I used to fish by myself and always from the banks. As a single female, this limited my range for good fishing holes since they had to be highly visible and well populated. It was difficult finding men to fish with me. They somehow thought my friendliness was an invitation to romance. This was the furtherest thing from my mind. I just wanted to fish. I remember meeting a very nice fellow on the water on day and we made arrangements to go catfishing in Bay City. The later it got the colder it became so we pulled out blankets and lit a bon fire. I guess he decided it was time to make his move and romantically put his arm around me. I politely explain "Hey, thats not what I'm here for."(I knew he would never have treated a guy this way.) He excepted my explaination gracefully and we continued as if nothing had happed. It was great! We fished all night and caught a cooler full. When I tried to call so we could fish again he never returned my calls. I guess he had other ideas.
Then, about three years ago, God sent me a "real" fishing buddy so I wouldn't have to fish alone. We have fished some great out-of-the-way "holes". Because he's retired he's ready to "drown a worm" whenever I call and flexs around my schedule. When we're on the water, everyone thinks we're married because we argue like an old married couple but their has never been any romantic involvement between us. I learned the hard way that I can never be "One of the Guys" when fishing but its really is better to be treated like true "Lady Angler"!

Hi h20hazard
If it swims, I'll fish for it! But Salmon are definately my favorite. Have fished Ludington. But did not make it that way this so far this season. For the past three weekends been fishing Harrisville, Alpena and Oscoda. Its been pretty slow so far with smaller sizes coming out of Harrisville. A friend of mine is trying to set up a trip for the western side of the state. May do Tippy Dam around the 22nd or 23rd. Have heard mixed reports on the area. Some say its overcrowded but the fishing is usually good. Wish me luck!

Good Luck this weekend, dress warm and post your reports here, we love to hear how everyone does.

I'm not the best cold weather person so fishing when its this cold, windy and wet out isn't high on my list of things to do. I pass on ice fishing, too.

Have fun and keep warm!

Greetings,

I use to fish when I was a kid with my mom and dad back in the 50 and 60's and hadn't gone fishing since about 1963. This summer I remembered how much I use to enjoy fishing and decided to take my son (12) and daughter (14 1/2) out on the water. Wow have we been having fun! I have severe arthritis and only fish from the bank at a small pond 40 miles north of chicago and caught my first catfish (only 18 inches). My favorite eating fish are blue gills. My son feels sorry for the fish and throws all of his back.

Bye for now.

Welcome MamaBear - Glad you rediscoverd fishing, its a great way to spend time with kids. I can understand feeling sorry for the fish. My cousin Mark couldn't fish because he didn't want to hurt the worms. Come back and shre more stores.

Hi Rhonda - Welcome aboard. You found a great place to find tips and ask questions. Where do you fish the Grand and Looking Glass Rivers?

Well I live just south of Portland, so sticking close to home is pretty easy. I also am a Geocacher and have "cache"'s located at Webber Dam and near Lyon's Dam, so I have stuck to those areas so far this year. The salmon hadn't been bitting very good when I was out. I am beginning to think it's me not the fish . But I am determined to wait it out and find one soon . Other thn GR at the 6th St dam, has there been any other places that are good spots?

Maybe I'll see ya out there!

Rhonda - You won't see me out anymore this year (Boat's put away and its getting to cold/wet) for me. Portland hummm,.. Ludington is only about 2 1/2 hours away, you'll have to come out fishing the lake with us next year. Are you interested in fishing some tournaments, I'd love to put together a Ladies Team Experience Outdoors for the 2005 season.

Jennifer

PS: Any other ladies out there interested in fishing some tournaments in the Ludington Michigan area, drop me a line.

Jennifer,
Well I can't promise I'll be any good, but it would be great to try a tournement! You'll have to let me know when you start planning them. True, Ludington isn't that far away and it's beautiful for alot of outdoor activities. Last year my husband and I spent a week Geocaching in the area over there (we finally took our honeymoon, on our 1st Anniversary). Sounds like you put the boat away a few weeks early huh? We have had some unusually warm weather for this time of year, which accounts for ME being out fishing this far into fall.. Do you ever get down this way for trips?

Rhonda -

The boat is stored in Spring Lake, so next spring we will probably heading out of there for a few trips.

Hello all,
I was out checking the web and found this site. I was a bit surprised and pleased to find a place for the ladies. My husband and I own and operate a fishing guide service in Washington. Needless to say I get to fish a lot..the only down side is it tends to be in the dead of winter when 'clients' don't want to brave the cold or during off periods. I love fishing and have been doing it all my life.
I am hoping to enjoy some chats with other gals that have the same passion....
My favorate fish is steelhead or trophy sturgeon during the summer, but am not paticular will fish for anything just about anytime.
Judy
