Good sportfishing shows to attend....

I'm already getting antsy about the boat being out of the water and not able to fish. The next best thing is going somewhere to look at fishing "stuff". If you had to choose three shows to attend this year which ones would they be and why?
Best, Chip

First I have to ask what is your geographic target market? Just Michigan, Great Lakes, etc... how far are you willing to drive for a show? Probably the toughest questions that I'll ask you here - how many days do you have to devote to doing shows?

I'm happy and excited to help you out with this - I've done lots and lots and lots and - well you get the idea - lots of tradeshows LOL.

Hey Greg, its good to have an "old salt" to show me the ropes. I will certainly appreciate any input you can offer. I have heard alot of good things about the Steelheaders event in Birch Run, I was thinking of attending that one. I will probably try and do a couple of shows, this winter/spring, and would like to target primarily the salmon/deep water fishermen. Any chance to get the Ridgebacks in front of interested (and bored) fishermen during the off season. Which ones do you go to??
Thanks, Chip

I go to the Detroit one at Ford Field although I'm not sure they are having it this year - I have to say I was pretty disappointed last year. Grand Rapids Fishing show is a good one. Other than that it's boats shows and seminars for me LOL Detroit Boat SHow, the Metro Beach in-water (Fall), but I do Bassmasters University and stuff like that.

Chip , the Ford Field Show has been moved to Novi Expo Center this year , I think the middle of Jan. is thier new date. Flint Steelheaders Show in Birch Run in March , Grand Rapids Show in March and the Lansing Show are all good shows for the salmon angler. There are a couple other shows down your way also but I hanv't attended any of those , as Greg said , the Ford Field Show last year was pretty lame .

I heard the same thing about the Ford show. I think moving to Novi will be better. I definately want to make a weekend out of the Flint Steelheaders at Birch Run, stuff for US and for the little lady to do too, ya gotta love that!! Now if only I can pull some strings and get a really good spot for my booth!!! HA
From what I understand it is wall to wall people and the show is great.
Look forward to seeing you all somewhere this winter!!
Best, Chip Greene

Chip , all the spots at the show are good. Last year there was a waiting list for space's and this year we added some more space by moving some of the exibitors upstairs and keeping as many vendors down on the main floor. We had approx. 14000 people go through the show last year in 2 1/2 days and expect more this year. I will probably be there all three days , my money will run out in the first 1/2 hour though.

Greg , we will hook up for a drink in Birch Run . I will introduce you to a bunch of great guys at the show. I don't really need anything new , I have a boat and barn full of stuff to last me a life time , but I always want the latest and greatest.

Need and fishing equipment in the same sentence - that's pretty funny. What's need go to do with it They are must-have items that can only increase the enjoyment and productivity of our fishing experience - yeah that's it.

I'm glad I haven't thrown out my wading pants.......can use them right now!!
Sounds like we have a plan, and it is always good to put a face to a name. I'll be looking forward to meeting old friends and making new ones for sure. Its always good to see (and drool over) the latest and greatest stuff.
Here's a prayer for all our members for the upcoming holidays.......may we all be truly thankful for all that the Good Lord has Blessed us with in this GREAT country, the one, the only, USA!!!
Best,
Chip

I always used to consider the Grand Rapids Steelheaders show the best and it was my "buying show" but since the Flint Valley Steelheaders show was moved to The new location I have had to change my mind. Some of the vendors offered the Steelheaders "it pays to belong" discount along with whatever show discounts they had going. Made it difficult not to buy wether you needed something or not. Of course we can all find something we need (can't live without).
Mike.
